How I maintain salon quality colour at home – Ashy Blonde Hair

There is nothing worse than paying money to get your hair done and then within a few weeks the colour fading and not looking the way it did when you left the salon.

Obviously there is only one place to go for the real hair pamper experience, but I am going to share with you what products I use on my hair at home to create salon lasting freshness. I get a lot of questions about my hair and the most common one is how I keep my colour.

FIRST | My hairstylist is AMAZING, if you live in the Cambridgeshire area I highly recommend The Moore Hair Company, Ely. I have my hair done by Salon owner Leah Moore and she is brilliant! In my opinion you really can’t cut corners when it comes to your hair care and there is no way I could achieve this colour solely at home.

TWO | It’s all about the products! Too many washes in week will strip your hair of natural oils that are essential for keeping it healthy. I wash my hair 3-4 times a week and use dry shampoo in between, I never wash my hair 2 days in a row. I use the Living Proof Dry Shampoo I find this one lets me longer between washes. If I ran out I always have aback up bottle of Batiste Dry Shampoo (I like the Tropical scent) at home and this does the job, but I’m not able to go as long before needing to wash my hair.

When it comes to shampooing and conditioning I use a combination of the Goldwell Blondes and Highlights shampoo and conditioner along with L’Oreal Serie Expert Silver Shampoo – which I do just once a fortnight. Also referred to as Purple shampoo it has a deep purple pigment that acts as an anti-yellowing agent to counteract hair brassiness. If like me you’re in to the science… Purple sits opposite yellow on the colour wheel, so when they’re mixed, they off-set each other for a more neutral shade. When applied to the hair, a small amount of this purple pigment is absorbed, and the violet hues neutralise brassy undertones for a cooler colour. Depending on how long it is left on the hair, a silver shampoo can help you achieve anything from a honey blonde to a cool white shade. I find using just the silver shampoo alone can be quite drying, but combined with the Goldwell Blondes and Highlights which instantly brings out colour and neutralises unwanted yellow tones while conditioning, it’s just perfect . The Goldwell Blondes and Highlights has a unique FadeStopFormula that minimises colour fading and is super nourishing. This is combination the main key to ensuring I keep the colour I left the salon with. I buy the big bottles as they are better value for money and literally last months! Once a month I use the 60sec Goldwell Treatment mask to give my hair that extra nourishing boost.

THREE | Reduce heat damage. Now I love me some styling! Having my hair curled is my favourite way to wear it. However, my hair probably only comes into contact with heat once a week, most days that I wash my hair I don’t even dry it! It’s key you invest in a good heat protector for the times you do style. I am currently using the Goldwell Style Sign Sleek Perfection, but another of my favourites which is perfect for travel as it comes in a 30ml bottle option too is the Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil. On a day when I have styled my hair, I always finish off by applying Goldwell Elixir Serum Oil to give it that extra boost of nourishment and sheen.

There you go! If you are a blonde like me I would highly recommend these products. As always you can buy directly from these links abovegive them a go what are you waiting for.
